Homoeopathic Medical College, Chandigarh, was established in 1974 by the Homoeopathic Medical College Association (Regd.), Chandigarh, keeping in view the growing medical needs of the country and the utility of this System amongst the people, especially belonging to the poorer sections. Since this wonderful system was going in the hands of the quacks, it was considered necessary to have well-qualified Homoeopaths to safeguard the interests of this Science.

Initially, the college was being run in a rented building. But, in 1980, the college Management undertook the construction of the College & Hospital building on a plot of land measuring 3900 sq. yards allotted by the Chandigarh Administration. With the missionary zeal of the members of the Association, the sapling of the past has grown into a sprawling tree. Totally self-dependent and financially viable, the college has experienced and well-qualified staff who impart theoretical and practical training to the students in the basic and clinical subjects. It is a matter of pride that the students who have qualified from the institution have been absorbed in various institutions run by the Government / Semi Government Departments.
Though the College has achieved a lot with sustained hard work & dedication, it shall achieve many more milestones of upgradation and addition of facilities in teaching, training & research such as permission for 100 seats in coming year and P.G. Course, for which the building has already been expanded.
Study Course
The College imparts education through a 5-½ years Degree Course (4 professionals of 1½+1+1+1 years) in Homoeopathy (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery - BHMS) including 1-year compulsory internship which is recognized by the National Commission for Homoeopathy, New Delhi and is affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Clinical Training to the students
The students undergo Clinical Training in various Departments in the Govt. Multispecialty Hospital, Sector-16, Chandigarh, as well as in the hospital attached to the college. For training in post-mortem, arrangements have been made in the Govt. Medical College and Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh, Civil Hospital, Manimajra. Poly clinic, Sector 22 Chandigarh. Medical Camps are arranged in the rural areas regularly for imparting training in community health to the interns as well as to the students.
Internship
Intensive one year training is provided for the students who complete the B.H.M.S. Degree Course in the attached College Hospital.
Admissions
The college has at present an intake capacity of 50 students and the admissions are made on the basis of merit list of National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). A separate merit list for each category will be prepared based upon the marks obtained in NEET 2023. The result of the NEET 2023 ipso facto, does not entitle a candidate to get admission
Candidates who have passed the 10+2 examination in supplementary 2023 are not eligible.
Infrastructur
Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh has adequate space as per the requirement of M.S.R. Regulations, 2013 of National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH), New Delhi.
Two separate four floored blocks equipped with Lift & Genset have been added. One Block is for OPD, IPD & the Administrative section and the other has various lecture halls, laboratories, Departments, including dissection hall and Library. There are thirteen large departments which are well furnished and equipped with all the required instruments, chemicals & apparatus as per the requirement of National Commission for Homoeopathy, New Delhi which is the statutory body for Homoeopathy. The solar Plant of 10 Kw has been installed to fulfil the requirement of Chandigarh Administration & National Commission for Homoeopathy, New Delhi.

Library
The College has a spacious, well equipped Library with a sitting capacity of 100 students. The college has a rich library with 8802 (Eight thousand eight hundred & two only) books on homoeopathy & Allied Medical subjects. A computer with Internet facility and a separate reading area is available for the benefit of Students. The College also publishes its own magazine.
Hospital
The hospital attached to the college provides treatment for a range of acute and chronic disorders, through its OPD, IPD, & several Rural Medical Camps. The faculty and other staff fulfil the essential qualification and experience for the posts against which they are recruited as per M.S.R. Regulations, 2013. The strength of the staff fulfills the criteria for UG Course as laid down by MSR Regulations, 2013.
Seminars
Students learn presentation skills through seminars presented by them.
Tutorials
In tutorials, students are divided into groups comprising of 4-5 students in each group. Concerned subject faculty member give individual attention to each student through tutorials and problems or queries are solved by the faculty member assigned.
